"THE
YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS" CELEBRATES THE TWO-DECADE LOVE AFFAIR OF NIKKI AND
VICTOR NEWMAN IN A CLASSIC SPECIAL EPISODE TO BE BROADCAST NOV. 29 ON THE CBS
TELEVISION NETWORK
The romance of daytime television's premier romantic
couple, Nikki and Victor Newman, including their most recent walk down the
aisle, will be revisited in a special classic episode of THE YOUNG AND THE
RESTLESS, to be broadcast Friday, Nov. 29 (12:30 – 1:30 PM, ET; 11:00
– 12:00 AM, PT) on the CBS Television Network. (Originally broadcast 9/5/02).
The episode has been re-edited to include not only scenes
of Victor and Nikki's wedding, but also their wedding reception and Victor's private presentation of a
special gift to Nikki following the
wedding: a photo album that sparks warm and cherished memories of their life
together.
Victor Newman is the brooding tycoon portrayed by Eric
Braeden, and Nikki Reed Newman is his former wife and a one-time stripper played
by Melody Thomas Scott. Together
they have comprised the signature twosome of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, which
has been the number-one rated daytime drama for 14 consecutive seasons.
Thomas has played Nikki since 1979 and Braeden joined the
cast as Victor in 1980. Both are
credited with helping to catapult the show into daytime leadership.
The couple first married April 13, 1984, an event still
known among fans as "The Wedding," and recognized as one of the most
lavish in daytime drama history. The
wedding depicted in the rebroadcast Nov. 29 is technically their second wedding,
although another, brief ceremony was held in 1998. Most critics contend that
Nikki was near comatose and thought to be near death at the time and the
ceremony that Victor rushed through as a token of his love failed to pass muster
as a legitimate marriage rite.
