"GLEASON," A NEW TELEVISION MOVIE STARRING BRAD GARRETT
AS THE LEGENDARY COMEDIAN, TO BE
BROADCAST SUNDAY, OCT. 13
ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK
GLEASON, a new television movie starring Emmy-nominated actor Brad
Garrett ("Everybody Loves Raymond") as the legendary comedian, will be
broadcast as the "CBS Sunday Movie," Sunday, Oct. 13
(9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Based on a true story, the movie looks at the life of the
renowned comedian and television icon Jackie Gleason, from his shaky start in
small-time vaudeville through his greatest achievement, "The
Honeymooners," one of the most popular shows in television history.
Terry
Farrell stars as Marilyn Taylor Gleason, Gleason's second wife.
The movie
chronicles the creation of "The Honeymooners," exposes the drama that
existed behind-the-scenes of the comedy, points out the parallels between the
show and Gleason's real life and reveals what made the larger-than-life comedian
the man who could create the beloved characters of Ralph, Alice, Ed and Trixie.
The film also explores events in "The Great One's" childhood
that explain how the characters in "The Honeymooners" had a
relationship to Gleason that went much deeper than the show, and how life was
not always a honeymoon for this charming but tortured and conflicted genius.
From his humble beginnings as a stand up comedian with a voracious
appetite for booze, women and control to the skit that changed his life as well
as the landscape of television, Gleason always followed one golden rule:
If you appear important, people will think you are important.
Brad Garrett is best known for his Emmy-nominated role of Robert Barone on "Everybody Loves Raymond." His other television credits include a regular role in the series "First Impressions," on the Network, and "The Pursuit of Happiness." He has also appeared on "Seinfeld," "Mad About You," Roseanne" and "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." His film credits include Woody Allen's "Sweet and Lowdown," as well as "George B.," "Suicide Kings," "Stuart Little 2" and "The Country Bears." He also appeared in the cable movies "Only in America: Don King," "Club Land" and "Bleacher Bums."
Terry Farrell is probably known best for her starring role on "Becker" on CBS. Her other television credits include her role as science officer Lt. Cmdr. Jadzia Dax in "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," "Paper Dolls," "The Twilight Zone," "Quantum Leap," "The Cosby Show" and "Family Ties." She has also appeared in the television movies "L.A. Madame" and "Reasons of the Heart" and the mini-series "Danielle Steel's 'Star.'" Her feature film credits include "Back to School" and "Hellraiser III."
