From Yahoo! News Phil Spector's potentially damning statements to police about the shooting death of an actress at his home can be used against the record producer at his upcoming murder trial, a judge ruled on Thursday. The decision by Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler could cripple Spector's defense that actress Lana Clarkson put a gun to her own head and committed suicide in his mock-castle on February 3, 2003. Most damaging to the defense may be testimony from a police officer who says that after Spector was shot with a stun gun, wrestled to the ground and hog-tied in his foyer, not far from Clarkson's body, he said: "I didn't mean to shoot her. It was an accident." Spector, best known for his work with the Beatles and signature "Wall of Sound" recording technique, is charged with murdering Clarkson just hours after they met at the House of Blues rock club on the Sunset Strip. An autopsy report concluded that Clarkson, the 40-year-old star of such B-movies as "Barbarian Queen" and "Amazon Women on the Moon" who had been working at the club, died after a revolver was placed into her mouth and fired. Lana Clarkson was a friend of PopArtsPlace.com's staff, having met at the San Diego Comic Con. She is missed.
