Century City -- it's a lawyer show, set in the 2030... is the American Audience ready to tune in? ![]() Michael Lehmann directed from a script by one of the series’ executive producers, Ed Zuckerman. David Paymer ("Alex and Emma") guest stars as Miller Sisto, the father of a boy in need of a liver transplant. Heading the firm of Crane, Constable, McNeil and Montero are Marty Constable (Elizondo), who shares his insights and wisdom from the "old days," and Hannah Crane, (Davis) a strong, assertive woman who is determined to make the practice a success. Joining them is hotshot partner Darwin McNeil, (Schaeffer), who is trying to make his mark in the legal world; earnest, self-critical Lukas Gold (Gruffudd), a lawyer focused on fighting cases that matter; new partner Tom Montero (Carbonell), a handsome, charismatic former congressman who hasn’t left his politics behind, and the beautiful, genetically re-engineered first-year attorney Lee May Bristol (Lehman). In a time when judges can go before lawyers as holograms, the firm finds themselves in uncharted legal territory and their cases provide an eye-opening look into issues confronting society in the not-so-distant future. In the premiere episode, 7-year-old Alex Sisto, who was born with a defective liver, needs a transplant within a year or he will die. His father, Miller Sisto (Paymer), wants the right to use the boy’s genetic embryo clone to develop a baby who could donate a portion of his liver to save Alex. The problem is that in the year 2030, the father has committed a crime by bringing a genetic clone into the United States and the government has seized it. The firm also takes on the case of a boy band that is suing its lead singer for not adhering to his contract to keep up his physical appearance. Another episode airs March 20.
Firefly the Movie! ![]() We can think of no better words than the ones the folks at Empire Online used so to quote another fine publication: "Whedon's show took the quite unusual concept of basing a Western in space, complete with old fashioned firearms, long johns, and the odd cry of 'howdy', all set aboard an intergalactic smuggling vessel - think the Millennium Falcon but with a hold full of cattle. Serenity is the name of the ship, commanded by Captain Malcolm Reynolds and playing host to a number of curious crewmen including psychopathic ex-mercenary Jayne, a companion (read: prostitute) called Inara, a fugitive doctor and his mentally deranged sister and a priest with a mysterious past. Rattling around the cosmos in a ship that looks more like a space-bound turkey than a firefly, the crew managed to put together a mighty fine show, until the powers that be pulled the plug." In related news, fans of the series can bring home a copy to watch whenever they like, as the entire run of the show, plus two unaired episodes, have been released on DVD. ![]() ![]()
