Sept 26 is too far away for JAG fans looking forward to the new season opener:

As Harm and Mac return to Paraguay, a severely tortured Webb gets medical attention with Gunny’s help and then hooks up with Harm and Mac to hatch a scheme to find Sadik. Mac goes undercover again to meet the secretary of a local CIA contact who has been leaking information to Sadik and learns of Sadik’s escape route. But when Harm and Mac head for the train station, they find themselves in a harrowing pursuit of the terrorist.

JAG (military-speak for Judge Advocate General) is an adventure drama about this elite legal wing of officers trained as lawyers who investigate, prosecute and defend those accused of crimes in the military, including murder, treason and terrorism. Navy Cmdr. Harmon "Harm" Rabb, Jr. (David James Elliott), an ace pilot turned lawyer, and Marine Lt. Col. Sarah "Mac" MacKenzie (Catherine Bell), a beautiful by-the-book officer, are colleagues who hold the same high standards but find themselves clashing when they choose different routes to get to the same place.

The unmistakable chemistry between them must be held at bay for professional reasons as they traverse the globe together with a single mission: to search for and discover the truth. Helping them with their mission is Navy Lt. Bud Roberts (Patrick Labyorteaux), a young lawyer who often surprises his superiors with the breadth of his knowledge, and his wife, Lt. Harriet Sims (Karri Turner), who keeps the office running smoothly. Running the show is their boss, no-nonsense Admiral Chegwidden (John M. Jackson), a Navy Seal who has the utmost confidence in his team.

Larry Hovis, former Hogan's Heroes star, has passed away.

(From the Houson Chronicle obit:
He moved to Los Angeles in 1964, sold his screenplay for a beach party/spy spoof titled Out of Sight, and began performing his stand-up comedy act at The Horn in Santa Monica. He was "discovered" there by Richard Linke, Andy Griffith's manager, and cast in a regular role on TV's Gomer Pyle, USMC. This led to his role as Carter, the demolitions expert, in Hogan's Heroes. The comedy set in a Nazi prisoner of war camp premiered in 1965, and Hovis stayed with it for all six seasons, through 1971.

Hovis also wrote for the popular Laugh-In variety series, and for two seasons appeared as a regular among its crew of zanies. Throughout the 1960s and '70s, Hovis performed in TV movies, game shows and guest shots on such series as Ben Casey, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Andy Griffith Show, My Living Doll and The Doris Day Show.

Lucy Lawless has a new role: "Kathleen, Tarzan Aunt."

The "Xena, Warrior Princess" star has signed on to appear in the WB's frosh drama "Tarzan." As part of the pact, Lawless also will develop her own series with the Frog for fall 2004.

Lawless will star as Kathleen Clayton, Tarzan's aunt and a publishing magnate who clashes with her brother (Mitch Pileggi) over how to rehabilitate their jungle-bred nephew (Travis Fimmel).

"Lucy has a tremendous sense of humor, warmth and grace," said WB Entertainment prexy Jordan Levin. "She has a fun, larger-than-life personality that will shape the character of Kathleen Clayton as she makes it her own. That is what attracted us to her for future development."

Lawless, who's repped by Endeavor, Original Management and Jeanne Newman, recently cameoed in the theatrical "Spider-Man," which coincidently came from "Tarzan" exec producer Laura Ziskin. She spent six seasons starring in "Xena," the firstrun syndie hit that ran from 1995-2001.

Thesp is working on the theatricals "The Ugly Americans" and "Boogeyman"; latter comes from "Tarzan" co-exec producer Eric Kripke.

"Tarzan," from Warner Bros. TV, is exec produced by Ziskin, David Gerber and P.K. Simonds.
