"The Friendly Skies" – Malone and the team search for an airline stewardess who was last seen by her roommate as she left her apartment several hours before she was due to fly, on WITHOUT A TRACE, Thursday, Feb. 6 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on CBS.

Tim Matheson ("The West Wing") and Heather Donahue ("The Blair Witch Project") guest star.

Linda Schmidt was finally pulling her life together after a devastating bout with alcoholism. But the night she disappeared, she revealed to a roommate that the man she was dating had turned out to be very disappointing. As the team begins to uncover information about her, it first appears that Linda was the victim of a serial killer, Richard Morgan, with whom she had communicated through an internet dating service. Their investigation leads them to two therapists – Dr. Aaron Morrison (Matheson), who treated Linda and Dr. Henry Franklin, who treated Morgan – who both have privileged information that the team must try to uncover in order to find Linda.

Not our typical entry, but having met and worked with Lana Clarkson at the San Diego Comic Con two years running, I can not refrain from making this post.

The senseless death of Lana Clarkson...

I'm in SHOCK! I knew her. I liked her. I hung out with her. And unlike many of the hollywood types who don't remember writers/press folks from one year to the next she always remembered me, and thanked me for the little things PopArtsPlace.com and I did to help draw attention to her and her appearances at cons.

When I asked her why she was out there for hours on end determined to stay every day until the very end, not letting a single fan go by without being made to feel special, she mentioned she had a movie in the works and she was doing everything she could to raise the money to get it through production. She was a hard worker -- and a wonderful young woman.

From her website: After numerous inquiries by her friends and fans, all donations can be made to the “Lana Clarkson Memorial Trust,” care of The Law Offices of Roderick J. Lindblom at 10880 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 2222, Los Angeles, CA 90024.

NBC should be happy about the results of the premiere of “A.U.S.A.” (4.9/11 among adults 18-49, 11.5 million viewers overall) which scored NBC’s highest 18-49 rating in the time period since Nov. 12 and improved by 14 percent on the network’s season average in the half-hour (4.9 vs. 4.3). “A.U.S.A.” retained a strong 83 percent on its 18-49 lead-in from “Frasier” (5.9/14 among adults 18-49, 14.9 million viewers overall). The new courtroom comedy, starring Scott Foley, kept NBC a strong second for the time period among adults 18-49 and won the half-hour among women 18-49 (tie) and women 25-54.

We love CBS for the way they entertain us -- but they take the jovial and fun parts of life in stride with the more serious times we live in...

Secretary of State Colin Powell is scheduled to talk exclusively to 60 MINUTES II correspondent Dan Rather this afternoon at the United Nations. Powell will talk to Rather after he presents evidence to the U.N. Security Council that Iraq possesses weapons of mass destruction. Rather’s interview will be broadcast tonight, Wednesday, Feb. 5 on 60 MINUTES II (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on CBS. In addition to Rather’s interview with Powell, Iraqi president Saddam Hussein’s first television interview in more than a decade will be broadcast on 60 MINUTES II, as well as Mike Wallace’s exclusive interview with Ted Turner. Jeff Fager is the executive producer of 60 MINUTES II.

It's not every day I agree with Matt Roush over at TVGuide, but when I saw this bit I had to agree, in fact, I'd been shrieking with delight over the same thought:

"Side note for all those mourning Francie, who had just started getting amorous with Bradley Cooper's Will: While this is a tragedy for the character, it has to be seen as a boon for the actress. Obviously the murderer won't get away with this ruse forever, but what a juicy role to play "

Firefly may be gone -- but Nathan Fillion isn't!

''Right now, my heart is set on comedy,'' Fillion said. ''I'm looking forward to working in front of an audience, making people laugh. But I'm not terribly picky; I just want to work.''

NBC snapped up Fillion not long after it became clear that producer Joss Whedon's ''Firefly,'' canceled by Fox, would not be coming back on another network. Fillion had the lead role on the drama, playing the commander of an outlaw starship.

''Here's a guy who can do everything, from four-camera comedy like 'Two Guys and a Girl' to a drama like 'Saving Private Ryan' to an action show like 'Firefly,''' said Marc Hirschfeld, NBC's executive VP of casting, citing several of Fillion's most notable credits. ''And he's one of those rare leading men who can do both comedy and drama.''

Fillion's other feature credits include the lead in indie picture ''Water's Edge'' as well as roles in ''Blast From the Past'' and ''Dracula 2000.''

THANKS to MSNBC for this great news! (Despite the unfortunate confirmation that Firefly has gone off the air for good.)

NBC, an announcement that lacks surprise because we all hoped for it -- something the people of America are undoubtedly happy to read:

As part of its continuing reporting on the Columbia space shuttle tragedy, NBC News will provide live network coverage of “Columbia Remembered,” a national memorial service for the seven astronauts who lost their lives in the shuttle explosion. The service, which is scheduled to include remarks from President Bush, will be held at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Tex. NBC’s live coverage will begin at 12:30 p.m. ET and will be anchored by Tom Brokaw. The service is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. ET, and will be carried in its entirety.

Sean astin (the samwise guy from LOTR)? is directing an episode of Angel! The WB says "it actually sounds cool... angelus is coming back." If you want to be getting info like this faster than we can post it check here.

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - "Dawson's Creek (news - Y! TV)" -- the show that turned the WB into a bona fide network -- will sail into the sunset this May after five angst-filled years.

The WB plans to air a two-hour "Dawson's" finale May 14.

While other young-skewing series came before it, "Dawson's Creek" came to define the WB's programming strategy, along with "Buffy the Vampire Slayer (news - Y! TV)" and "Felicity." The show bowed to the WB's highest-ever ratings in January 1998 and immediately became its No. 1 show in key demos.

Created by Kevin Williamson (news), "Dawson's Creek" also became the WB's first out-of-the-box hit among critics, who began to look at the network (which was still seen as the home for trashy sitcoms a la "Unhappily Ever After") in a much more positive light.

"We will always carry an emotional attachment to 'Dawson's Creek,' for without it the WB would not exist," WB entertainment president Jordan Levin said. "The show defined who we are and reflected the aspirational voice of the next generation of television viewers. The WB has grown up alongside the cast and in the process the series became a defining and life-altering experience for all involved."

"Dawson's Creek" also made stars out of its original cast, including James Van Der Beek (Dawson), Katie Holmes (Joey), Michelle Williams (Jen) and Joshua Jackson (Pacey). With their contracts on the show up, all involved agreed it was time to focus on their burgeoning film careers.

Season to date, "Dawson's Creek" is still the WB's No. 2 program among adults 18-34 (3.3 rating/10 share, up 6% from last year) and is its 4th-highest rated series in the persons 12-34 demo (3.0/9). "Dawson's" still holds the WB's record for best-ever rating among the 12-34 crowd (6.3/17). In its heyday, the show dominated especially with female teens, where it once pulled an astounding 19.3 rating and 48 share.

The show, which originally took place in a sleepy New England hamlet, now mostly centers in Boston, as the characters grow up and attend college.
