It is sad but true that by the end of the year we will all realize we know someone who was either in NY or Washington D.C. that day -- or that we will know someone who did.  For my part I know several people who live in work and both, and I count my blessings every day that all are fine... though it saddens me each night when I close my eyes and remember their stories of their friends, or their friends friends, who were not as lucky as they were.

September 24, 2001 My Fellow Daytime Artists, I play Phyllis Summers on The Young and the Restless. I am organizing an event to aid the families of the victims in New York and I need your help. The funds we raise will be donated to the "I Love New York Recovery Fund" which is set up to aid the children of the victims. There will be an admission fee for the fans that attend. They will then have the opportunity to purchase an "I Love NY" T-shirt which will then be signed by their favorite actors. There will be silent auctions so anything you can donate from your show will further our goals. There will be LOTS of food and music (anyone who wants to contribute musically please let me know). Public service announcements will be filmed concurrent with the event so money will continue being raised long after it has ended. A documentary of the event will also be made, as a follow-up, which will reach 25 million homes. Saturday, October 20 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences (ATAS) 5220 Lankershim Boulevard North Hollywood, California I will personally donate one dollar for every fan in attendance and I request that every daytime actor match me. My goals for this event are to bring our entire daytime community together to do something for others in desperate need and frankly to raise a S#*! LOAD of money. What occurred on September 11 is a devastating travesty, the worst in our lifetimes. The best thing we can do with our celebrity and the only thing in my opinion is to help others.
